EESC Conference: Tackling energy poverty at the heart of the ecological and energy transition

The EESC conference, organised with the support of the French Presidency of the EU, on "Tackling energy poverty at the heart of the ecological and energy transition" is the follow-up event to the EESC's 2021 conference on "Energy poverty at the crossroads of the European Pillar of Social Rights and the European Green Deal".

The 2022 conference will focus on how to tackle energy poverty in the perspective of a socially fair and just transition towards a climate-neutral Union by 2050. This conference aims to contribute to the ongoing discussion on how to best tackle this major social problem and to ensure civil society views are taken into account.

Energy poverty is a central concern in all EU Member States. It is of the utmost importance for the EU to demonstrate that it is possible to achieve the energy transition, reach the climate objectives, while ensuring at the same time that no one is left behind.

The Energy Poverty Advisory Hub will be represented by Jeppe Mikel Jensen during the first panel on "Protecting Vulnerable Citizens in The Storm of Energy Prices". The panel will take stock of energy poverty in the current situation and identify measures in place in the EU. It will reflect on measures to address energy poverty based on close cooperation amongst all levels, in particular, regional and local authorities, and civil society and private sector organisations.

Registration for online participation is open.
