EUSEW policy session - Diversifying the energy transition: gender perspectives in energy poverty policies

Energy poverty affects millions of people across the European Union but especially vulnerable groups and women. A combination of higher energy, transport and food prices caused by the current energy market crisis is likely to exacerbate the risk of energy poverty and could lead to increasing gender inequalities. In this difficult context, the 'RePowering' of the EU, the transition towards affordable, secure and sustainable energy, should not be gender-blind.

This joint policy session will take place on 29 September at 11:30-13:00 in Brussels. It is organised by the Energy Poverty Advisory Hub (EPAH), the leading EU initiative on energy poverty and the Committee of the Regions to discuss the challenges faced by vulnerable consumers and especially women to implement the new RePowerEU plan and adjusting to the rising energy prices and proposal policies and measures to guarantee inclusive energy transition.

The policy session is organised under the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), the biggest annual event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe and comprises a series of activities aimed at building a secure energy future for Europe.
