Description
The 20th edition of European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) will take place on 9-11 June 2026 in Brussels and online, under the overarching theme of ‘A clean, secure and competitive Energy Union’.
The European Sustainable Energy Week is the biggest annual event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe, and it features: a three-day Policy Conference; the EUSEW Awards ceremony celebrating the people, projects, and initiatives advancing Europe’s transition to clean and sustainable energy; networking opportunities at the Energy Fair. During the conference, youth voices are put forward through the Young Energy Ambassadors and the European Youth Energy Day. Last but not least, the Sustainable Energy Days give visibility to and foster clean energy solutions in the EU and around the world, from March to June 2026.
EPAH's Participation
The European Commission's initiative Energy Poverty Advisory Hub (EPAH) has been selected to co-organise two policy sessions under the EUSEW umbrella:
"From Policy to Practice: Inclusive Urban Energy Communities" on 11 June from 11:00 - 13:00 CET.
This session explores how energy communities can include vulnerable households, reduce energy poverty and empower cities to deliver a fair, affordable and participatory energy transition.
Session Co-organisers: Covenant of Mayors; Energy Poverty Advisory Hub.
"Empowering and protecting vulnerable households on the path to decarbonisation: From gas grids to renewable heat" on 11 June from 14:00 - 15:30 CET.
This session addresses the electrification and the phasing out of fossil fuels (specifically gas), which can be seen as two sides of the same coin, risk deepening access and affordability barriers for vulnerable consumers, increasing energy burdens and inequalities. Coordinating solutions across governments, industry and social actors' remains a key challenge. Session speakers will explore how to protect and support consumers, and specifically vulnerable ones in switching to clean, affordable heating.
Session Co-organisers: European Commission, Directorate General for Energy; Energy Poverty Advisory Hub; Heinrich Böll Stiftung, BEUC.
Session registration is now open, please register here.
