Description
Workshop on energy poverty and the clean energy transition: Emerging vulnerabilities, dynamic evidence, and transformative solutions
Energy poverty and energy vulnerability remain critical global challenges with far-reaching consequences for health, economic stability, social inclusion, and equity. As the clean energy transition accelerates, evolving energy markets and climate shocks are reshaping risks—creating new forms of inequality.
This workshop seeks to advance the research agenda on how energy vulnerability emerges and persists, how policy and technology can foster an inclusive transition, and how to mitigate emerging risks. We invite researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to share cutting-edge research, novel data, microdata, causal evidence, and economic modeling to address these pressing issues.
Topics of Interest
- Measuring Energy Vulnerability: Novel data and analytical methods to capture hidden forms of vulnerability, heterogeneity, and dynamics.
- Energy Market Transformation: How pricing, decentralized generation, and consumer-prosumer dynamics reshape household vulnerability. Long-Term Consequences:
- Impacts of energy deprivation on physical, mental, and social health.
- Climate Events & Resilience: How extreme weather shocks (heatwaves, cold spells, storms) intensify vulnerability.
- Evidence-Based Policy Responses: Evaluating social tariffs, energy efficiency programs, subsidies, and carbon-pricing compensation.
- Technological Innovation: Adoption of renewables, smart grids, and storage in mitigating or exacerbating inequality.
- Energy Justice & Distributional Impacts: Assessing how costs, benefits, and risks are distributed across population groups.
