European Sustainable Energy Week 2024

2024's edition is under the theme ‘Net-zero competitiveness driving EU energy transition’, to focus on delivering Europe's decarbonisation through green technologies and solutions towards a fair and just transition for people and competitive businesses.

The Energy Poverty Advisory Hub is co-organising the policy session under the umbrella of EUSEW:

The session aims to explore and promote effective multi-level governance strategies that facilitate the integration of local insights, knowledge, and initiatives into the broader national and EU climate goals and policies. The focus will be on how to best address energy poverty, including the importance of collaboration and coordination between local, regional, national, and EU institutions. The session will also discuss how the transposition of the new Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and launch of the Social Climate Fund can support local actors to enhance their efforts against energy poverty.

The number of cities exposed to extreme temperatures is increasing as they are vulnerable to the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect. Municipalities and their citizens, especially those in a situation of vulnerability, will present how are adapting to new climate conditions.
