Policies and Measures
The scheme funds energy efficiency improvements in both elderly and vulnerable people’s houses, making their homes more comfortable, healthier and more cost effective to run. It provides standard energy efficiency measures at no cost to the household, such as:
- Attic insulation.
- Draught proofing.
- Lagging jackets.
- Low energy light bulbs.
- Cavity wall insulation.
- Energy advice.
By September 2016, the scheme had already upgraded 125,000 energy-poor homes.
Due to its success, the Better Energy Homes scheme was launched in 2009 (through grants), to households that do not meet the necessary eligibility criteria for Better Energy Warmer Homes project.
