The project focuses on volunteering for energy advice to vulnerable families is a social initiative to improve comfort in the homes of families in situations of energy vulnerability, as well as savings in their energy bill through energy efficiency and energy renovations of homes.
The main objective of this initiative is to alleviate energy vulnerability through alliances with social entities to carry out comprehensive energy advice by corporate volunteers to its users as well as the identification of energy rehabilitation needs in their homes and their subsequent execution , thus achieving an improvement in the comfort of families and a reduction in the cost of their energy bills.
The initiative provides beneficiaries with an improvement in comfort in their homes as well as a reduction in the cost of their energy bill, thus being able to dedicate that money to other necessary expenses such as the shopping basket. All this results in an improvement in the social inclusion of the beneficiary. The beneficiaries obtain a greater knowledge of domestic energy saving measures that allow, with the same results in terms of energy use, to reduce their energy consumption.
On the other hand, the bill and the consumption of the beneficiaries who request it are individually analyzed, providing them, in each case and according to their energy use habits, with specific direct saving measures in the bill such as the contracted power reduction or change at more economical rates and appropriate to the specific energy use of each family. In addition, through energy renovations and energy efficiency kits, solutions are provided to make the home more energy efficient, reducing energy loss through doors and windows, eliminating humidity, changing the lighting for a more efficient one or providing to the home of more efficient appliances, among other actions or that improve your comfort, such as radiators, fans, blankets, carpets, etc. Local authorities, specifically social services, identify the needs of the people they serve and consult the project leaders for energy advice.
With a budget of over 1 million €, the project developed the following activities:
- Training in workshops for families on good practices in energy efficiency at home: how and when to use appliances and heating / cooling, advice on lighting, ventilation, water and maintenance of energy facilities, among others.
- Training in workshops on the energy bill and measures to reduce its cost: with special incidence on the dissemination of the electricity social bond, review of powers, analysis of rates.
- Personalized advice to the family on their own bill (power changes, cheaper rates), how to process the social bonus and good energy efficiency practices at home according to energy uses and their own needs and living conditions. After the advice, the volunteers prepare a personalized recommendation report. For more complex special cases, the volunteer has the support of the company's specialized vulnerability attention team.
- Home visit to identify needs in the home for energy rehabilitation and/or personalized efficiency kits (light bulbs, weatherstripping, strips, reflective sheets, etc ...) and their subsequent delivery to the beneficiaries. The energy rehabilitation proposals and / or efficiency kits are transferred to the corresponding social entity and the Naturgy Foundation for analysis.
- Execution of energy rehabilitation in the house.
