Disconnection interdiction during winter - Verbod op afsluiting in de winterperiode-Interdiction de coupure en période hivernale

Policies and Measures

The measure introduced that if a household's gas and electricity contract is terminated during the winter months (between October 1 and March 31) because consumers are unable to pay their bills, a default supplier (Sibelga) takes upon the supply for this household until the end of the season. The duration can be adapted upon decision of the region under exceptional conditions (e.g COVID-19 lockdown extended the period to May 31).
