The territory of Arezzo is diverse, ranging from the plains to hills and mountains. The municipality has launched initiatives, such as the 2021-2022 grant for upgrading old heating systems, and is planning a project to establish Solidarity Energy Communities (AR-CER-S) powered by renewable sources to address and mitigate energy poverty, with further developments depending on the upcoming MASE decree on energy communities.
The strategic objectives were:
- the revision of the social energy community (CER) proposal defining the incentive model.
- analysis of local survey
- launch of the One Stop Shop help desk in a decentralized way, with training and support provided to operators at various host institutions.
Statistical data on energy poverty in the Tuscany Region show that the phenomenon has less impact compared to the average of Italian regions, and this assessment was confirmed during meetings with stakeholders. Facilitating knowledge and understanding of the impacts of energy poverty among stakeholders was a decisive action. Municipal offices expressed their willingness to be involved together with the schools, associations, etc. The interaction between municipal social services and the aforementioned organizations is key to accommodate any analysis interventions and the resulting countermeasures.
