It has three main objectives: first, to introduce the concept of sustainability-driven energy citizenship, showcasing its potential to create a more just, equitable, democratic, and sustainable energy transition through various good practice examples across Europe. Second, it offers insights on empowering citizens to participate in collective energy initiatives. Third, it provides policy recommendations for enabling sustainable and empowered forms of energy citizenship.

This policy brief was created by EnergyPROSPECTS (PROactive Strategies and Policies for Energy Citizenship Transformation) to support and guide the integration of citizens into the European energy transition, highlighting the importance of collective action and the role of policymakers in fostering an inclusive and sustainable energy future.
