The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Banja Luka is one of the leading technical faculties in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is part of the University of Banja Luka and offers undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs in various fields of mechanical engineering. The faculty is dedicated to providing high-quality education, promoting scientific research, and collaborating with industry. With modern laboratories and experienced academic staff, it prepares students for successful careers in engineering and related fields.
The faculty is also actively involved in international research and development projects. It is currently implementing the ENPOWER project (HORIZON-WIDERA-2023-ACCESS-02 project “ENPOWER – Enhancing Scientific Capacity for Energy Poverty”), funded by the Horizon Europe program. ENPOWER will lead the transformative change in Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H) to strengthen the scientific reputation, attractiveness, networking channels, and societal impact of the University of Banja Luka (UNIBL) through building its research and innovation (R&I) excellence in technical and SSH domains, and using its scientific knowledge for solving energy poverty challenges in B&H trough six working packages.
The project will help UNIBL to upgrade existing and foster new research areas such as energy in buildings, energy efficiency, smart energy and AI integration, socio-economic and policy aspects of energy poverty, justice, transition and governance. It will also help in fostering the local R&I ecosystem by setting up the Building Advisory System Living Lab (BAS-Living Lab) at the premises of UNIBL, which will host technical, SSH and interdisciplinary research and co-development with partners from industry, public agencies and civil society. The project will help progress of established and young scientists of UNIBL and it will set up a sustainable framework for R&I, international networking, mobility and integration in the European Research Area to contribute to the smart specialization, green transition, and economic development in B&H.
