The School of Energy is itinerant and gives training mainly to vulnerable families in energy efficiency, energy saving and bill management. The training is offered to local administration or third sector entities, which are the ones that have relationship with families and School of energy support them with this training in energy efficiency.
The School of Energy has become an important partner of Social Services in many municipalities going periodically to give workshops to vulnerable consumers. In addition, the School of Energy also offers sessions for professionals from Social Services and Third Sector entities, which help to amplify the recommendations, since they are in direct and constant contact with families in vulnerable situations. In recent months, the training by the School of Energy for professionals that will become in charge of an energy poverty office of the city council has taken increasing importance, these workshops last for few days and have a theoretical and practical training.
With a budget of over 1 million € the Naturgy Foundation has trained in Spain, through its Energy School, more than 25,500 people in more than 670 municipalities in 9 regions. The territorial scope has been expanded in recent months, since online training has been incorporated due to the health emergency. Thus, the foundation has carried out 35 webinars aimed mainly at social services professionals, in addition to more than 200 ad hoc virtual sessions for Third Sector entities.
The Naturgy Foundation had an institutional relationship plan to present Naturgy’s Vulnerability Plan and specifically the project of Energy School. The plan included visits at the highest level in central, regional and local governments, social entities, forums in relation to energy poverty, among others. At the same time, meetings and presentations were held at a more operational level to give to know Energy School.
On the other hand, the School has a technical secretariat that achieves training by making the training known through phone calls and emails to people who are in charge of social services or third sector entities. In addition, the technical secretariat manages the trainers' agenda. As a consequence of this work plan, the school got its first trainings and a well done job and the word of mouth has managed to reach the number of trainings we currently have.
At present, the School of Energy is well known and has a lot of activity that comes from word of mouth among the municipalities and entities benefiting from the training.
