The assistance aimed to alleviate energy poverty in Mátraterenye by raising awareness, expanding local knowledge, and collecting data on energy-poor households. It involved training social workers to monitor energy poverty and offer low-cost behavioral advice, along with conducting a household survey and public workshop to map local energy poverty.
The overall objective of the assistance was to assess and address energy poverty in the settlement by gathering data on the demographic, social, and economic conditions of its population. This involved collaboration between local residents, municipal employees, and experts to identify vulnerable groups, provide energysaving advice, and develop proposals for the upcoming Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP).
The assistance in Mátraterenye involved visiting the settlement to engage with local stakeholders, conducting online interviews with a nurse and real estate expert, distributing a questionnaire to assess energy awareness among 98 residents, developing energy poverty indicators, preparing educational materials for various age groups, and hosting workshops on energy efficiency and poverty awareness. The survey revealed that many families in the settlement struggle to afford heating, often relying on burning wood or other materials, while living in poorly insulated homes built before 1980, and facing challenges due to accumulated debts and insufficient income from public works.
