Energy poverty is not only about housing or energy costs, it is also a major public health issue. This article explores how inadequate heating, cooling, and ventilation affect health and wellbeing, drawing on evidence from the European WELLBASED project.

DAFNI Network of Sustainable Greek Islands is a Development Organization of Local Government (DOLG), representing island municipalities. It was established in 2006 with the aim of strengthening local governance in the islands and promoting a sustainable development model for island regions. This model is based on the sustainable and smart management of natural resources and infrastructure, the development of sustainable tourism that leverages the islands’ natural and cultural assets, and the effective integration of the primary, secondary, and tertiary economic sectors. In 2024, DAFNI was transformed into a DOLG, enabling it to strategically support local authorities in the planning and implementation of development projects by capitalising on its technical expertise and management capabilities.
INZEB as a non-profit independent organisation with a continued focus on a sustainable and energy balanced future is working in the areas of energy efficiency in buildings and the built environment, energy efficiency innovative financing, energy poverty mitigation, and evolution of energy communities. INZEB’s aim is achieved with the support of an interdisciplinary team of experts who generate and disseminate scientific insights, research results and innovative programmes.
